A Crash Course in Changing America
about the campaign institute

Today's campaigns are part of the problem

The problem isn't who wins and who loses.

Politics has become more about product marketing and placement than building a constituency for change. Funded by the wealthy and the powerful, shaped by media consultants, most campaigns fail to offer a real vision for change, much less fight for it. It's no wonder that the people we elect lack a broad-based mandate for real reform.

That's why we formed the Campaign Institute. We aim to train the next generation of electoral activists who care about the environment, education, women's rights, health care, jobs and peace in Iraq to run and win a new type of campaign: driven by the issues, funded by small donors, fueled by grassroots activism.

You can be part of the solution

Imagine if first dozens, then hundreds, of young activists who shared this vision went to work in this year's campaigns. You can be part of it. Our non-partisan program will train you to:

  • develop a grassroots campaign strategy
  • recruit, coordinate and motivate volunteers
  • run voter registration drives
  • coordinate get out the vote efforts
  • reach out to constituency groups and build coalitions
  • organize news conferences and other events
  • organize and manage phone banks and e-mail lists
  • raise money at the door, on the phone, and on the Web
  • organize area Meetups

We do not have any upcoming trainings at this time. Check back for future trainings, and sign up for email updates on our programs.

This project is made possible by the generous support of the following foundations:

Arca Foundation
HKH Foundation
The Beldon Fund
